Album Description
Live, Dream, Love is the debut album by one of world’s top junior pianist, Charlie Liu, who first made his name on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the same “World’s Most Talented Kids” episode featuring 19-yo Taylor Swift, and the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he impressed Daughtry with his flying fingers. During 2015-16, Charlie had won more Top Prizes in the most prestigious Inter/National Junior Piano Competitions in the USA than anyone else, setting himself apart from others through his “special approach to sound”, as noted by the famous pianist Vadym Kholodenko.
Live, Dream, Love is an attempt to capture life’s most relatable emotional moments with classical music. The first 12 tracks form the musical journey that follows a fictionary character from his birth till beyond his golden years. Each track is named after a strong emotion and life event. The theme of love is throughout the album, but manifested in different moods. The wide variety of shades and colors of the emotional music are expertly expressed by Charlie Liu with elegance and intricacy.
The vast majority or all of the emotions expressed by the first 12 tracks are experienced by everyone, so this is an album that can truly accompany you through ups and downs and all through the years. It also makes for a perfect first foray into the classical music world of some of the most enchanting works by the biggest composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and more.
The last two tracks on the album are bonus from Charlliam Fantasy I and II, the latter recorded not long after Charlie turned 14 (the other tracks were recorded around 16). Both pieces are difficult repertoire used successfully for international piano competitions.
