Piano prodigy Charlie Liu first made his name on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the "World's Most Talented Kids" episode that also featured 19-year-old Taylor Swift, and the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he impressed Daughtry with his flying fingers. At age 8, he set a world record as the youngest musician ever to perform in all 3 concert halls inside the world-famous Carnegie Hall. He is also the youngest ever picked to become a Lang Lang International Music Foundation Scholar.
During 2015-16, Charlie won more Top Prizes in the most prestigious Inter/National Junior Piano Competitions in the USA than anyone else. He achieved the impressive 5-figure prize total by setting himself apart from other competitors through his "special approach to sound", as noted by the famous pianistVadym Kholodenko.
Charlie had performed at top venues across the U.S. and soloed with orchestras in four states. He had performed for luminaries such as Queen Rania of Jordan and Bono of U2, among others. Yet he had always focused on helping the society and the community with his music. He initiated/organized benefit events such as "Young Artists for Haiti - Worldwise Piano Prodigies Collaborate" and benefit solo recitals for UI Children's Hospital and Plainsboro Rescue Squad. He regularly helps out at other charity events, fundraisers and community events, bringing the joy of classical music to local schools and communities through public solo recitals.
A Straight-A 11th grader in the highly competitive WWPHS South, Charlie also excels in the highest level of High School Math Competitions in the U.S. In his leisure time, Charlie enjoys a variety of video games and also played travel hockey for 8 years. He has studied piano with Professor Ingrid Clarfield of Westminster Choir College since 2007.
